Wow!!! A Month has Flown By

Hey Everyone
I can't believe it has been a month since I last posted anything. I guess thats the result of being fairly busy with hockey and the days have generally been getting longer so we are doing a bit more outside stuff on the weekends. In a little over 2 weeks from now I will be home celebrating Easter with my wife and children. It just seems we got over Christmas and St Patty comes tomorrow. To all those of Irish heritage and all those others who wish they were, "Happy St. Patrick's Day" tomorrow.
There is one thing about Cape Dorset that you can't beat is the weather. We have had some really gorgeous days in the last month. More nice days than all the fall for sure. I can't believe how clean and white the snow is and how the sun seems to really take hold through the day.
Another big thing that is happening soon is I am co - coaching the Baffin Junior C Hockey team in Rankin Inlet next weekend. That requires I take 3 and a half days off school starting Thursday and returning to Cape Dorset on Tuesday morning with overnight stops in Iqaluit on Thursday night and Monday night. I am really looking forward to seeing another part of the north. The 2 other teams are from Cambridge Bay and Rankin. They have played together most of the season while these will be our first games of the season. Regardless of whether we win or lose I take comfort in the fact that we will be a truly regional team while the others have a chance to play together all season because most of their players are from one area,ie Cambridge and Rankin. The winner of the tourney gets to represent Iqaluit in New Brunswick the next week for the Eastern Canadian Championship. Hey, with a hot goaltender you never know how far you can go. Thats the fun and excitement of living in the North.
Well folks, thats all for now. If you are in Rankin next weekend come on out and cheer us on.

Cheers for now
Blake
