Hey Everyone
There is a certain crispness in the air and snow can't be too far around the corner. Things are going quite well at the school. One of our teachers organized a massively successful Terry Fox Walk this year. In the past it was just an event to raise awareness of cancer research and the perseverance and fortitude that Terry Fox put forward before he succumbed to the dreaded disease at such a young age. This year a focus was put on fund raising and boy did the schools ever come through. Between the 2 schools over $700 is going to the Canadian Cancer Society. Around $500 of this amount was raised in the elementary and over $100 was raised by the tykes in kindergarten. Way to go Sam Pudlat School. Afterwards hotdogs and drinks were enjoyed by all at the community hall. That is some of the exciting stuff going on in Cape Dorset.
As for me this is my 3rd tear up here and so far it has been the hardest. I thought after year one, being away from friends and family for extended periods of time would only get easier. It certainly is not the school, students, or work in general. That is all going well. I bought my Christmas ticket around a month ago but it wouldn't take a whole lot to get me to make use of it early. I seem to be in a real funk. We are just getting close to the middle of October and all I can really seem to think about is going home. This is definitely my last year of teaching in the north. It will be a miracle if I make it to Christmas.

Hang in there Blake - I know how you feel ... I'm going through the year two funk right now.
BTW - what's it like teaching in CD? My contract is up at the end of this year ... don't know what I'm doing or where I"m going yet, but never hurts to start researching early.
